🌟 Andrew Lang's Coloured Fairy Books 🌟🌟🌟

🌙 Lunar Academy of Myths, Legends & Lore

Recovered Myth Fragment (As with all myths, accuracy is debated and heavily argued.)

Despite their enchanting titles, Andrew Lang's Coloured Fairy Books are not books exclusively about fairies. Instead, they are among the greatest collections of traditional fairy tales, folklore, myths, legends, and folk stories ever assembled in English.

Published between 1889 and 1910, the twelve famous volumes were edited by the Scottish folklorist and writer Andrew Lang. Much of the translation and adaptation work was carried out by his wife, Leonora Blanche Lang, along with several other translators and scholars, all of whom were acknowledged in the books' prefaces. Together, they introduced English-speaking readers to stories gathered from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas.

The books helped preserve hundreds of traditional tales, many of which had never before appeared in English. Rather than inventing new fairy stories, Lang and his collaborators collected and translated older tales from a remarkable variety of cultures.

The colors in the titles simply distinguish one volume from another. They do not represent different kinds of fairies, magical traditions, or themes.
